Official Liberia2011 Election Update: October 13, 2011

The Liberian National Electoral Commission released preliminary election results at 1600 GMT. A total of close to 200K votes were counted with President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf of the Unity Party leading with approximately 44.5% of the vote, followed by Counsellor Winston Tubman of the Congress for Democratic Change with approximately 26.5% of the vote and Prince Johnson of the National Union for Democratic Progress with 13.5% of the vote. A total of 1.8 million people were registered to vote and the turn out will probably be around 1 million. Final results will be released on October 26, 2011.
